Pink away shirt as worn in a season of change under manager Graham Westley. Westley finished the previous season by announcing 14 players would be departing the club at the end of their contracts with a further eight being placed on the transfer list; this was after Westley was quoted to say the squad "did not have a clue what it takes to succeed". This was followed by twenty new signings - three of which came from Westley's former club Stevenage. The season began well with North-End progressing to the third round of the League Cup thanks to a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace but things quickly turned sour as they went on to win just two league matches in a four-month period from October to February. After a 3-1 away defeat to Yeovil, Westley was sacked and replaced with Simon Grayson who managed to steer the side away from the drop zone to a 14th place finish
