The Dutch got off to a great start, beating France in the final group game and then crushing Yugoslavia 6-1 with a Patrick Kluivert hat-trick in the Quarter Finals. They were finally knocked out by Italy in the Semis when - after dominating the match and missing two penalties the game went to a shootout and Holland managed to miss three more spot kicks from their four shots at goal. This design was used when the side thumped Denmark 3-0 to qualify for the Quarter Finals with a perfect record in the group stages
