Home shirt as worn when Bayern were beaten to the Bundesliga title by surprise package FC Kaiserslautern, but then recovered to win the title in 1998-99 and famously reached the Champions League Final in 1999. Die Roten also picked up the DFB-Pokal trophy in 1998, beating MSV Duisburg 2-1 in Berlin. After losing the goals of Jürgen Klinsmann, Bayern would rely on young attackers Giovane Élber and Carsten Jancker for goals, with the duo netting 45 goals in all competitions in the 1997-98 season. FC Hollywood would dominate the domestic scene in the next season, finishing 15 points ahead of second placed Hertha Berlin. Bayern also reached the 1999 Champions League Final under Ottmar Hitzfeld, facing Alex Ferguson’s impressive Manchester United side. Mario Basler would calm fan’s nerves with a 6th-minute goal for Bayern, but the side would be dealt a crushing blow in injury time as injury time goals from Sheringham and Solskjær ensured the trophy would go back to England
