The shirt was worn in every match until the Semi-final, with England facing Switzerland, Scotland and the Netherlands in the group stage and progressing thanks to goals from Alan Shearer (4), Teddy Sheringham (2) and an infamous Paul Gascoigne strike against Scotland. Spain were England's final opponent at the tournament in this iconic shirt, with a memorable penalty shoot-out victory thanks to two missed penalties from Fernando Hierro and Miguel Ángel Nadal as well as Stuart Pearce's emphatic penalty and iconic celebration.
