Home shirt as worn during the campaign the side finished runners-up in the inaugural season. Antlers wore kits made by Italian sportswear company Ennerre, who had produced iconic designs for some of the biggest teams in Serie A including the likes of Lazio, Napoli, Roma and Fiorentina as well as strips for the Uruguayan national side. Kashima were the only side in the newly formed J-League to wear kits made by the Italian designers with most sides in the division opting to use Japanese based manufactures Mizuno. They wore this classic design all the way to the Emperor's Cup Final where a 6-2 defeat to Yokohama FlĂĽgels meant they would end the season without a trophy despite impressing the crowds with some typical Japanese flare and skill.
